Edgar Ortiz is a Senior Retirement Specialist at TCG. He joined our team in 2018 to pursue a passion for educating individuals within the TRS system. As a bilingual financial expert, Edgar can assist our clients in both English and Spanish.
Edgar started his financial career by helping Launch a Reg D 506(c) capital offering where he would pitch to Investors just like Shark Tank on a monthly basis. His passion for helping school district employees stems from his wife, a sixth-grade math teacher. He personally experienced the disconnect between employees and their retirement plan. Educators in particular have an unusual mix of potential income sources throughout retirement. Between the many income possibilities and not being eligible for Social Security retirement benefits in some cases creates a unique and challenging environment for retirement planning. Edgar wanted to be an advocate for his wife and the educator community, retirement planning does not have to be hard when you have access to resources such as the ones TCG offers.
Outside of the office, you’ll spot Edgar with his kids at volleyball tournaments and basketball games. He encourages his children to stay active as he found a love for running that has been enjoyable for him through adulthood. He ran the Golden Gate Bridge and the Las Vegas Half Marathon in Fall of 2019.
Edgar holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from The University of Phoenix.
